Huawei has officially revealed the features and design of the Huawei Watch Fit fitness tracker and smartwatch, a relatively low-cost alternative to a Fitbit Versa 3 or Apple Watch. Why mention these two?
Huawei has not aimed for a direct copy of either the Versa or Apple Watch devices, though, using an unusually tall screen rather than a rounded-off square.
And yet the Huawei Watch Fit still has a high-quality display. It’s a 1. 64-inch 456 x 280 OLED with 326ppi pixel density.
The Huawei Watch Fit won’t look or feel quite as swish as a $350 smartwatch, but this seems an acceptable cut at the price.
Its other bands have circular screens, and the Huawei Watch GT 2 models may look a little large on some wrists.
The Huawei Watch Fit’s housing is not made of steel or aluminium, but “engineering plastic”.
The Huawei Watch Fit, like other Huawei watches, runs Huawei’s own software.
Huawei will announce the final Watch Fit pricing and availability details on September 10.
Judging by the quality of panel used in the Huawei Watch GT 2e, it’s likely to be bright, bold and colourful.
The Watch Fit’s optical (PPG) heart rate sensor will record your heart rate 24/7 if you want it to, and is used to calculate SpO2, blood oxygen saturation.
The Huawei Watch Fit costs 399 UAE Dirham, $82 in a direct currency conversion.
And the display resolution alone tells us the Watch Fit’s on-screen image will appear sharp. Where’s the catch?
